It's cheating Bob. You're not supposed to scare them to death.

hey Bob, when I used to do a bit of fishing up the top end, we used to use a mixture of equal parts Dettol, baby oil and metho in a spray bottle, that seems to keep the sandflies (midgees?) away......we spayed it out of the bottle onto ourselves, in case you were wondering...

You're right Bob,
Nothing wrong with a feed of flattie's especially after you master the art of filleting them properly.

I used to do a lot of chasing them with fly in the Swan river and other places as well.
Black Bream are another good fish catch on fly but I usually return them.

Must remember Ross's recipe for Sandflies unfortunately my wife is highly allergic to them.

Cheers Terry

you beat me to it Marty  At a pinch RP7 liberally sprayed also keeps those bitey buggers away - we found that out the hard way but the dettol mix is a lot cheaper

Ah yes Maureen the many uses of rp7/wd40, a mates mother used to swear by it for her arthritis!! I thought it a joke, but then an old bloke rang up a radio show, I think it was Macca, and he also swore by it for his arthritis! better than all the pills that he had been given he reckoned!

And Bob, about your outfit there, if you wore that in Sydney at the moment you would be arrested quick smart!

Henry Hoke used to produce cans of K9P which was handy for things like sandfly repellent.
