To be sure, to be sure... :shock: I mean, for sure, my ancestors came from southern England and northern Europe, nowhere near any leprechauns.

This is the text;

Elaine said, “What on earth is this.” :?

Speaking of ancestry,

My Dad was Italian. My maternal Grandfather was of Irish descent and her mum was a Pom. Further back one ancestor was French, on the mothers side. One of my cousins has traced our ancestors, through my grandfather (Irish) back to, no not the first fleet, but the second fleet. They came as free settlers because they were told they would be given land and there was no way they could ever be landholders in Ireland. The name then was Hibbs. The line zigzags through both males and females so it is not a direct line. MY mothers maiden name was Byrnes. It always amuses me that so many people claim to be descendants of the 'first fleeters'. I wonder if there is anyone who proudly claims to be the bastard offspring of the soldiers, or officers of the first fleet? (There's a poem in that!) I was brought up to favour the Italian side.

My husband has no idea at all what his origins were.
