Persuasive Writing.

Post by Rimeriter » Mon Oct 01, 2012 1:45 pm

An Excerpt from the Internet.
Persuasive Writing.

Truly persuasive writing is a potent blend of intellectual and emotive appeal.

For instance, we can use metaphor, simile and analogy; these are all related literary devices -
they involve comparing one thing with another.
They have enormous power to bring ideas to life for readers, to turn the dry and complex
into vivid and motivating images.
While in his prime, heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali used simile very effectively
to praise his own prowess:
"Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee."
That wonderful use of language lives on as much as the memory of his boxing feats.

Note - there is another page of interesting information.

My old boss when he observed that someone was very pleased would say " He's got a smile on 'is face like a fox eatin' guts "

"Thanks" Neville.

It certainly has a 'ring' to it.
Very forceful and to the point.
Perhaps not suitable to be used in all circles.
