Greasy George - the Shearers' Cook

Post by Shelley Hansen » Tue Aug 02, 2016 4:41 pm

Hi All

A request from our ABPA Facebook page ... from "Banjo Ockerspeare".

Would anyone happen to know the name of the author? Who wrote the bush poem titled Greasy George "The Shearer's Cook" about sixty odd years ago?

Old greasy George was a shearer's cook and he hailed from the back of Bourke
he never washed and his skin was caked from head to toe with dirt.
When you looked at him your eyes slid off so greasy was his skin
and the wild pigs on the station run screwed up their snouts at him.

Can anyone help?

Regards
Shelley
