Here you go Brenny ...

From ...
"A Bit More Bull & A Bit More Dust"
By June Hansen

JYE'S ACCIDENT
(c) 2001 June Hansen

The story spread like wildfire
Round the little country town.
Of how one of its favorite sons
Had gone and been struck down.

Mary Lounds the local gossip
Swore the tale was true,
She'd heard it on the party line,
When Jye rang his brother Blue.

She caught the words "An accident,"
Just as she began to cough
But she swears she heard young Jye cry out,
"And Blue! they cut it off."

Now Mary knew that this was news
That everyone should know,
To think a lad as young as Jye
Had suffered such a blow.

So she dialed up everybody
Her excitement knew no bounds
And in a voice most somber
"They cut it off," said Mary Lounds.

Now young Jye's friends were most upset
And his Aunty Debby cried
And I know there were three pretty girls
Who thought of suicide.

And the fellas sitting in the pub
Were seen to cross their legs
When they heard about the poor young bloke
As they swallowed up their dregs.

The townsfolk held a meeting
And their words were most irate
They thought the firm he worked for
Should be made to compensate.

So they wrote the firm a letter
Faxed it off that very day
And the firm faxed back another
Said "Not a dollar will we pay.

"The fault lay with the lad," they said
"And they didn't think it fair"
For if he hadn't been so careless
The bloomin' thing would still be there.

So the good folk of the township
All had a whip around
And collected ninety dollars
A sum to quite astound.

Then they gathered round the bedside
Of the poor unlucky lad
And he was most astonished
To see them all so sad.

He smiled at them so sweetly
As he lay there on a drip
Then he held up his bandaged hand
HE'D CUT OFF A FINGER TIP.
