The Picnic poem

Post by Rod Walford » Sat Apr 19, 2014 9:07 am

An old boy once recited a fun poem to me but I've only ever been able to remember a few lines. I'm not sure if it was just a Kiwi poem or was more widely known but I've never been able to trace it. Here are the few lines I recall:

The sun is getting hotter as it rises overhead
And I'm spreading liquid butter on a sandy piece of bread
Forty thousand sandflies are flying in the air
Half of them have bitten me but I don't care - it's a picnic!

Anyone recognise it? ;)
