The Gambler's Lament

Post by Ian A » Thu Nov 08, 2012 4:12 pm

Evening All,
I have acquired this poem from somewhere but I have no author. Anyone help?
Ian.

They're telling up at Dwellingup, the story of my plight.
Lost money on the Melbourne Cup;
my bank account went belly-up;
I did a flit (at night).

- and so on with lots of place names.
..............

'Day All,
I must offer an apology. I now find out that author of The Gambler's Lament is Bessie Jennings who belongs to the same Port Macquarie Poetry Group as myself. How embarrassing.

Ian.
