I was given two poems by John Bird The Last Chance and The Filly My Filly does any one know anything about him

Thanks for posting the link Maureen , a good read there, I do of course prefer his rhyming verse.
The Poem about The Antbed Court in particular.

The above is the last known address that I have for John Bird.
I recall him as a prolific writer from the 1990's but have no current information on him at all.

I recall hearing that John passed away a couple of years ago - but I hope I'm wrong.

'The Filly, My Filly', and 'The Last Charge' are both in,
"Selected Poems and Bush Ballads Volume 3" by John Bird. (Dedicated to his mother)

I met him a few years ago when Jack Drake was running a fest in Stanthorpe.

Dropped in to see John with Ray Essery a few years back. I believe he passed away some time after.
