WADDIE MITCHELL Performs. USA Cowboy Poet

This is part of the thread that Mannie posted "The Ballad Of Mitchell Bert." I'm posting as a stand alone thread in case my reply is not widely seen on the site, because I'd love to hear what our members think of Waddie's 'laid back' delivery style? And do they think we can learn from it?

I was priveleged to share the stage in the USA with the celebrated American poet, Waddie Mitchell.....and I will NEVER forget his performances. He is the best I have ever seen/heard (apart from Milton maybe.) Waddie performs as if he's just leaning across the fence having a lazy chat. Absolutely devoid of any dum de dum de dum, to the extent that it's sometimes not easy to spot the rhyme. The man is BRILLIANT. (IMO) See what you think?

I'm a fan of cowboy poetry - have 4 of them on my books at TAT  I also like this bloke Baxter Black and especially this poem of his. The laconic laid back style with no frills or fancies is to my way of thinking pretty fair dinkum poetry.

Yes Glenny. So good to listen to and you are right about the rhyme. Felt more like just a story to the point that I didn't think rhyme while listening, too wrapped up in the tale and the telling.

Couldn't help but think of Milton Taylor when watching this Glenny.
