One for David - perhaps?

Post by Terry » Mon Nov 16, 2015 1:22 pm

It's strange how words that you have used without thinking too much about them in the past,
suddenly raise doubts, although you have used them often enough.

'TILL' - as in - 'and worked each night till late' - is such a word, and quite legitimate according to my Oxford Dictionary.

It often seems a much better word in some circumstances than 'TO'.

It doesn't take much to amuse an idle mind, does it?

Can't see a problem, Terry. In your example I'd always use "till". Or "I worked until late."

Cheers

Hi David

The query came about because of a poem written a bit different than usual, where TILL crops up a couple of times.

I've used it often enough over the years without a second thought; it was just seeing it twice in the same poem that got me thinking.
And with the forum so quiet of late, I though I may as well ask the question, if only to try and stir up a bit of a discussion.

Regards and thanks

Terry
