The launch!

The launch of my new book of poetry for children, "'The Billy That Died With Its Boots On' and Other Australian Verse", was held last Sunday afternoon at Readings bookshop in Hawthorn, Melbourne.
Geoffrey Graham acted as Master of Ceremonies. He was ably supported by poet and children's writer Edel Wignell, who read a poem she had written about the book, and Maggie Somerville (vocals, guitar) and Marie Butler (accordion) who sang a song - a melody that Maggie had written for a long narrative poem in the book, "The Sash". (It tells the story of a young Ned Kelly receiving a gold silk sash for saving the life of a drowning boy.)
Several other ABPA members were in attendance, including Jim Brown, David Campbell, Ed Walker, Ken Prato and Eddie Dalton. Their support is very much appreciated.
The day was a great success. I had a very enjoyable time myself, and received plenty of positive feedback afterwards. (We also sold lots of books!)
Further information (including photos) can be found on my blog, here:
