THE COPPER CROC POETRY EVENT
Posted: Sat Jan 19, 2013 9:49 pm
Hellooo everybody. I am finally making progress with organising the event we've been speaking about in the post ''help for croc & Glenny?'' Here are the details so far: (which I will summarise under ''Events'' when I have it all sorted.) Big hugs to all of youse for supporting us in getting a new event up & running.
We really liked Keats' suggestion to call it ''The Copper Croc'' as it has good alliteration...and...they do mine copper out here.(Plus croc is not really the gilded type...
) So...
We decided to hold the event on April 26/27/28. It will be a highly disorganised ''free for all'' open mike on the Saturday night...given that anyone contributing to ''the working bee'' will still be standing. We are still trying to organise a feed for everyone but haven't worked that out 100% as yet. Any ideas welcome. I do have a caterer so we're halfway there. (Bring your own booze.) We will have a book launch for croc's book ''the world according to croc...'' and also announce the winner of ''The Copper Croc Award'' (for the written comp.) Entries to the written comp should be addressed to:
''The Copper Croc Poetry Competition''
PO Box 198 Theodore Qld 4719...closing on March 31st, date stamped on or by that date.
I dunno what to set as an entry fee...??... wotchareckon?...but we'll be relying upon those to finance the prizemoney & trophy/s. (We have already been promised a donation for that from a generous high profile poet. Once I get his permission to, I will tell ya who.) Also I will be chasing sponsorship so that we can make this a desirable comp....& some clever blighter who can make a crocodile trophy. (croc's got a metal 'crocodile nutcracker' on his ute bonnet that could serve as a model for a mould?)
I'm sorry that I haven't got all the loose ends tied up yet, but I thought I'd best get the preliminary details posted.....and bleedin' heck I'm still logged in as 'croc.'...
PS. for the written comp....No rules per se. Just don't make it free verse.
No line length etc. Just make sure you put a cover sheet on your entry/s & no author's name on the poem/s. Any enquiries can be pm'd or to my email glennypoet at bigpond dot com.
Strewth! Look at the time. I'd better go feed croc...........Cheeers,Glenny
