Glenny here I am up towards the back of this banter and I’ve gotta tell ya I have benn read “Sweeny” and listening to Slim Dusty all my life and it has always made sense that’s how we talk
ie. when's the show on “ somewhere in may or june”
Some where in september would be correct.

It was somewhere in September, and the sun was going down

Fear not Dave - use some solar garden lights and all will be revealed - no don't thank me Mate it was Bobs idea.

Hey Marty I thought all shearing sheds had bits of loose tin up top to aid in the ventilation in summer??? OK OK I've been wrong before  Obviously my ex was telling porkies..when I said the roof needed fixing he always said why it isn't leaking (in the middle of a drought I wonder why) and then it did rain and it did leak I was told he couldn't fix it because it was to wet to do so....never could work you blokes out. :? :?

Technically, some poets over construct their pieces to the point where they become sterile.

I must confess that I was never a great fan of CJ until I got the ABC tapes of Ron Haddrick doing Ginger Mick. That pair of cassettes got a lot of mileage. Still not a great fan of the street venacular of his time and often cringe during some performers attempts at CJs stuff ... (Some can actually pull it off).

Subjectively, my favorite is Lawson. Technically, his works are an elegant simplicity that you don't have to stumble over. Far from being facile, they also have depth, empathy and are laden with passion.
Not bad for a bloke poorly schooled (and who failed those "kids" exams as an adult).

It's to Henry I dips me lid ... :)

Have a good trip Dave. Should be coming to sunny Victoria. Stunning autumn weather we are having. Best place in the world this time of the year.

Heather :D
