Bob, Parasite resistant big beef carcass doesn't quite have the elegant turn of phrase as Scharzkopf ladies hair luxuries or Claudia Schiffer's figure sculpting.

"Parasite resistant carcass, low birth weight"

I think is a very apt poetic description of Claudia Schiffer and those of the super-model ilk

Bit like Blue The Shearers.

Then there came a stranger
With a beaten hangdog look
Like a cross between a fly-blown sheep
And a worn out battery chook.

Now that's poetry.

It's not exactly rocket science, Nev. Rhyming schemes have been used in advertising since the early days of radio. As with nursery rhymes, the sing-song meter and rhyme make it so much easier for people to remember. It has also been proven to 'stick' in people's minds for a lot longer. The meter does not have to be perfect and the rhymes do not have to be over clever. I recall doing a series of Advertisments with the late Bobby Miller which were flogged on the radio and earned us a very generous cheque. Copyright was/is with the Dairy company that hired us and best of all, we pitched the Ads they gave us and wrote new ones for them. They used everything we wrote. There is certainly good money in Advertising!

Of course it is totally different from Bush Poetry. Unless you are clever enough to write 30 second ballads! ;)

So you can't give us a snippet here cos the Dairy mob have the copyright?? There's have to be a few good laughs at hand with you and Bobby involved ;)

Marty

ps ironic too, that I was recently asked to write a jingle to plug the rocket science industry

I think I know what you mean Neil.

It's funny you should mention science. I was watching a doco the other day in which executives of large British food companies told how the marketing of their products was done according to very sophisticated psychological methodology. Maybe rocket science is simpler
