HOMEWORK PROMPTS FOR JUNE 2024

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Wed Jun 05, 2024 1:01 pm

Winter descends upon us and it is bloody cold here in Ipswich :( Stay warm and healthy.

Thank you to those who participated in last months challenge - it was a bit of fun which we all seemed to enjoy, and as promised I did put it up on the ARP page. The response has not been as good as I hoped for but perhaps the sheer length of it frightened off a few. Those who did read it though seemed to enjoy it.

Thank you Terry for putting up your Coober Pedy poem - that gave me the idea for this months homework  For example did you know that in 1920 an official name for the opal field was needed and the Progress Committee voted that it be 'Coober Pedy', an aboriginal term meaning 'white man in a hole'. .

How about we all write a piece or share one or even two poems we may have already written about a specific place in Australia, and along with the poem tell us the back story behind it....and if the place concerned has an unusual or an interesting name so much the better.

It will be interesting to see what you all come up with...Go to it my lovelies

Hi Maureen

Great idea, and yes, I did know about the name but as I lived there for some years not surprising, I guess.
I agree it will be interesting to see what our mob come up with.

Cheers
