H'work w/e 17/5/21 ... IS IT HOT OUT HERE?

IS IT HOT OUT HERE? ... Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBarkPoet

She was down the beach on Sunday working on her golden tan,
slathering her skin with sun tan oil as only Aussies can,
so she smelt just like a coconut, which wasn't all that bad.
And he sussed her out. She saw him. Knew he was a likely lad.
He had blonde locks like Fabio - a beefy Aussie spunk
with pecs and biceps oil enhanced - he had her in a funk.
Blue budgie smugglers sealed the deal and quite enhanced his tan
He was a perfect specimen! A fair dinkum Aussie man. (sigh)

Well he sauntered past her slowly, she melted beneath his gaze.
He took a butchers, once then twice, as on her towel she lazed.
He grinned laconically at her and with daring and dash,
asked ''you up for tonsil hockey love - you want to have a pash?''

Well a girl likes to be woo'ed you know - and this girl wasn't easy,
a line like that won't win fair maid - 'twas nought but bloody sleazy.
"Rack off - go back to woop woop mate'' she heatedly replied
"that line might work with cows and sheep out in the countryside.
But when you're in the big smoke mate you need some more finesse.
An introduction would be good if manners you possess,
perhaps some conversation too if that's not too extreme.
Now if you wish please start again - you can yourself redeem".

She'd had her little dummy spit - he looked a tad pole axed -
two lines appeared upon his brow as if his brain was taxed
at working out her message - he had to sus it out ....
the roos in his top paddock were madly jumping about.

He gave a grin laconic, raised his sunnies to his head
and said "I'd best be moving on - there's other fields to tread
and other crops to harvest - ones easier to pick
I'm sorry that I troubled you, and I feel a right dick.
I thought you 'd be an easy mark I see now I was wrong
I apologize for my remarks and now I'll say so long"
He sauntered off along the beach, she sat to watch him leave,
and though angry at his crudeness she felt just a trifle peeved.

Which goes to prove that females fickle fates fingers embrace.
At times the macho man attracts but doesn't make first base.
They're not into faffing around, nor have they lost the plot.
But most like their men masterful - with good manners, and hot.

G/day Maureen
sounds like you set the bar too high there mate - but you probably escaped, to tell the truth.

Good poem and a good story, with lots of Aussie slang that matched the yarn that you were telling.

Great yarn Maureen, I'm sure we can all picture the Two beach goers in your story! In particular the ego tripper. Sounds like he may have worn out
a few mirrors in his day!
Agree with Terry there, you have put the Aussie vernacular to really good use in your tale.
Well done,
Ron

Fun indeed, Maureen = really enjoyed this yarn and can clearly picture the scene! 'The roos in his top paddock were madly jumping about' is very amusing - and I haven't heard 'have a pash' in decades, ha! A very clever and original poem!

Agree with all the others, Maureen - definitely some expressions there that would set the younger generation scratching their heads!!
