Homework WE 31/7/17 - A Snapshot of Ipswich

Well, Maureen, I've taken the prompts at face value this week - even though my knowledge of Ipswich can't match yours. My poem is just "postcard" size!
A SNAPSHOT OF IPSWICH
(c) Shelley Hansen 18/7/17
Airborne Growlers fly formation under Queensland cloud,
storm heads from the west are closing fast;
Pumpyard Bar on Limestone sells its products - fresh and proud,
stately buildings tell of seasons past.
Weather unpredictable, conditions are at best
changing as the summer heat draws near.
Love affair with past events will draw us back to test
knowledge of a heritage held dear
Glass of “4 Hearts Brewing” will assuage the savage beast,
but a special aspect of this town
brings me each October to another kind of feast ...
POETRY – the diamond in the crown!

Whoo Hoo - great use of the prompts Shelley and you've captured the feeling of Ippie well with your words, and I am delighted that you like the old girl. She is a grand old town and was once going to be the capital of Queensland, not Brisbane.
Hope to catch up with you and Rod if you make it down for the IPF this year.

Topical, Shelley, and an ingenious use of the "four hearts brewing"...that one defeated me!
Cheers
David

Thanks Maureen and David!
Gotta love Google, David - I discovered "4 Hearts Brewing" is a beer company in Ipswich (linked with Pumpyard Bar on Limestone Street) - which Maureen obviously included to introduce the possibility of several interpretations of the phrase!
Yes, Maureen - I hope we see you at the Feast this year. It's a competition I always support, so my envelope has been posted ... and it remains to be seen whether its contents will warrant an invitation!
Cheers
Shelley

Google is your friend - I love it when people take the time to look something up

It was an obscure hint that I though could be interpreted many ways - come on David, put your thinking cap on
Your could put a full stop after hearts and start the next sentence with brewing

Yes, Maureen, I love Google! By the way, you'll see that David has indeed just posted a verse with an entirely imaginative take on the prompts, including those hearts!!!
Enjoy!

just put in an 11th hour out-of-left-field one....enjoy.
Love all the responses so far - I'll have to get north of the border one day!
Ipswich sounds like my kind of place with plenty of history and old buildings.
