The Shrine in Our Backyard

In our backyard we have a shrine
to all that’s good for me and mine,
a structure that brings joy to all,
that helps us stand so proud and tall.
We worship there on sunny days
with joyful hymns and songs of praise,
amidst a rainbow’s vibrant hues…
a mass of reds and greens and blues
and pinks and browns and blacks and whites,
the view of views, the sight of sights.
Such beauty you have never seen
in picture book or on the screen…
for colour, movement, ripping plot,
you cannot beat what we have got.
You’ll find our story written there,
a tale of happiness and care,
tradition handed down the years
to nourish smiles and banish tears.
We offer thanks and bow our heads
for nice, clean sheets on all our beds,
and shirts and undies, some with frills,
upon the hoist that’s made by Hills.

Thinking outside the square David - love it and isn't the smell of freshly washed sheets and towels and clothes indeed one of the simple pleasures in life. Nothing like climbing into a bed with fresh sheets on - you won me - well done and nice to an Aussie icon mentioned as well. :D
