Homework For W/E 21/ 4/ 14 'BULLDUST AND FLIES'

Bull Dust and flies
It was out on Yundamindra and was stinking hot as well,
as we bumped on over potholes there that were as deep as hell.
And the cab was quickly filling from the dust that filled the skies;
it was even worse outside, where waiting were a million bloody flies.
Then the old Landrover shuddered, grounding to a sudden halt
and the flies were out there watching ready for a swift assault.
So realizing that we had no choice we readied for the fight,
quickly grabbing nearby branches and then swishing left and right.
for awhile we wreaked some havoc with their corpses all about
and the ants began to gather counting on a feast no doubt.
Arms more used to raising schooners started counting soon the cost,
and before much time had passed that day the battle had been lost
So we crowded back inside the cab amid the stifling heat,
waiting patiently for darkness and with not a thing to eat.
Worn out torches were no help there as we toiled for hours that night
and the air was thick with curses till at last we got things right.
