Green grass with white posts nearby
where thick men running
go up, go down; who knows why ?

Kneeing, wrenching, gouging eyes,
torn knee ligaments
underneath grey wintery skies.

Carn the Hawks! Hot pies, cold beer,
speccys and check-sides,
Saturday arvos this year.

The buzz that is imminent,
the senses are tweaked,
the deep heat and liniment

The passion of a Byron;
Pickett or Kickett,
a kick after the siren.

Footy's back

I wonder if any of our modern day bush poets could manage to do , after Banjo's Geebung Polo Club ,The Geelong Football Club.

OK so here is the challenge –
3 to 6 verses.

17 syllables per verse or less

CLOSE my friends but not close enough

But good on you for having a go. It's not as easy as it looks now is it?
