THE PILBARA REGION / HOMEWORK TOPIC 06/06/11

From Mt Tom Price to Paraburdoo,
upstream to Joffra falls,
this region of the Pilbara,
where the wild bush dingo calls.

The multi colored landscape,
a vast unending expanse,
with red rock walls, rapacious winds,
and waves of heat that dance.

And waterfalls, breathtaking,
as veils of water spill,
and high above, 'neath clear blue skies,
the white corellas shrill.

This land of many colors,
rich ochre, red and gold,
with sunsets like no other,
a vision to behold.

This spanse thats seen the dreamtime,
escarpments, deep and wide,
mystique that lingers..still..here
true colors, worn with pride.

Good poem Sue,
The Ashburton area was alive with Dingoes last year, coinciding with a big drought.
Fortunately there has been good rains since then so the scene should be a more pleasant one now.

Thanks Terry, I havn't been fortunate enough [Yet] to visit the area, but when it came up as the homework topic, I decided to do a bit of research on it. This country we live in IS a very vast, expanding expanse. We should never take for granted the beauty we have at our back door, it certainly is the lucky country.

Maureen, I think the idea of using town names in the homework topics is an excellent idea, I really enjoy researching their location and history, keep'em coming.
