The Line for Lunch

One step at a time
I moved in line
amongst the lunch time crowd.
There came a howling.
Belly growling.
It grumbled oh so loud.
Those standing near
covered their ears
and winced as if in pain.
It sounded like
a motor bike
was racing round a drain.
Louder and louder,
over and over,
my belly wailed and moaned.
It couldn't wait
for me to eat
'Feed me now' it groaned.
The line dispersed
'Please feed him first'
I heard one woman cry.
'It seems indeed
without a feed
this man will surely die'.
Got ushered through
I jumped the queue
But how I now regret.
The food I got,
was far from hot.
Left over cold spaghett'.
