Wilhelmina’s Dragon
Leonie Parker © 2012

Wilhelmina Philpot had a dragon.
She kept it in a box beside her bed.
When she tried to tell her mum and dad about the dragon
they never listened to a word she said.

Wilhelmina’s dad would just smile fondly,
and kiss her nose the way some adults do.
There’s no such thing as dragons Wilhelmina’s dad would tell her
but Wilhelmina knew that wasn’t true.

Wilhelmina’s dragon was a baby
still trying out his baby dragon wings.
He hadn’t yet quite got the hang of dragon fire breathing
or any other sort of dragon things.

Wilhelmina Philpot fed her dragon
table scraps of vegies, meat and greens.
All was hunky dory until Wilhelmina’s mother
opened up a can of Heinz baked beans.

Baked beans are a favourite of dragons
but results of eating them are dire
‘cause they give ‘em wind and when the baby dragon farted
Wilhelmina Philpot’s house caught fire.

Wilhelmina tried to tell the firemen
how the fire started and then spread.
Though they nodded Wilhelmina knew no one believed her.
They never listened to a word she said.

   Hope you are not leaving yourself open for a law suit from Heinz :o   the hottest beans on the planet

This is great fun Leonie - the kids will love it. Big kids and little kids, and I suspect the local firies would like it as well. 8-)

Cheers

Your brain is in good company; I can't think of anything profound to say. Enjoyed the story Leonie.

Ooh, never thought about a law suit  . Nah, it's all their fault anyway. What's their motto - beans means Heinz? :D It's product placement, maybe I should bill them.
