my wife was secretary of the Qeanbeyan Eden Monaro Legacy group for a number of years I notice that people place a Poem in about the very sad loses of life in war and inserection but what about those who are left and this is a tribute that I wrote in 2002 to those women who lost thier loved ones
To the Wards of Legacy
The years that come do nothing to dim the memory of the friends of years gone by.
That stood shoulder to shoulder along with others in the trenches of the Great War.
This was the war to end all wars so we were told and believe them we did.
World War 11 and our beloved ones again left our shores to save us from horror
so we may live in peace and safety , but the cost was great!
Korea and Viet Nam were there so we may help others for a life,
that they should have, so we were told.
As the wars go by great grand mother’s grand mothers and mothers have lost their loved ones.
Husband’s, brothers, grand sons and sons, have all answered the call only never to return.
To these women, who have lost what they have cherished the most.
We hope, that what we do will help ease that sorrow in the coming years.
Though what we do will not fill the void in your hearts
We the people of Legacy proudly acknowledge you all.
