I think we have little understanding of the huge impact WWW1 had on families. Familes were generally much larger and several sons went to war and sometimes the father too.
I have a similar story about three brothers from one family (Knight) and their three cousins (Brown).
I can't quite put it into words yet. One son was killed in one family (Albert Knight), two in the other (Ernest and William Brown) and another Brown brother was preparing to enlist. They also had several other cousins that served - and that's just one side of their family. I think I counted 11 all up that were related. You wouldn't see that today.

Marty, your familty certainly did "do their bit". I assume that they all came from the same area or small community, that tragedy would have made a severe impact on not just the family but friends and neighbours as well.

It was very common Marty to lose more than one son from a family as well as fathers and cousins and uncles. I think from memory and I may have the wrong war but in World War II we lost almost a complete generation of young men...how bloody tragic is that.
Do hope that you have placed your poem in pride of place along with their photos. Would be worthwhile IMO putting together a memorial book (if someone has not already done so) with all the details known included to be kept in your family for generations to come - it is a heritage to be rightly proud of.

An officer!!! My God he looks about 14 
and I note you mention he only lived to be 45. Tragic family history Mate. So sad to read of these stories.
