My Work of Art

Today is our forty eighth wedding anniversary and I thought I might re post this to celebrate:
MY WORK OF ART
If I were to paint a picture
a portraiture of you,
these are the colours I would choose
to make that picture true:
I’d begin with lots of charity,
love and happiness,
brush in a dash of mercy
and loads of tenderness.
I would take some understanding
and mix in heaps of hope,
take out all the doubting
and replace it with tons of cope.
I’d blend a daub of worry
then paint in a colour bright,
fill the background in with courage
and etch in rays of light.
I would put in lots of caring
a splash of sadness too,
and emphasise the sharing
of the love I have for you.
Then I’d stand back from my easel
and soon I would decide
to eliminate the parts
indicating vanity or pride.
And when the work was finished
I ‘d place it in a frame,
made of gold and silvered,
and attach to it the name,
‘MY LOVE’
(And pray you felt the same.)
