MY LOVER'S STONE

I laid my love down to rest
I laid a rose upon her breast
I laid pennies on her eyes
I kissed my love, I said goodbye

I laid my love down to sleep
I heard an angel start to weep
I laid a rose upon her breast
I laid my love down to rest

I laid my love down to die
I heard an angel start cry
I blew my love one final kiss
I laid my love down to rest

I lay beside my lover’s stone
I laid beside her on that ground
I drank the poison chalice down
I lay beside my lover’s stone

I laid my love down to rest
I laid my head upon her chest
I laid me down in fading light
I closed my eyes and said goodnight

Engraved upon my lover’s stone
A broken heart, a broken home
Forever more, we rest as one
My love and I, my lover’s stone

Thank you Maureen

I am tickled that you are revisiting some of my earlier efforts. I hope you find the odd poem that appeals :D
