LA NINA CAME TO VISIT

LA NINA CAME TO VISIT
The very words La Nina conjure up for me
vision of a kindly lady, caring as could be,
a charismatic presence, the doyen of all weather,
not like maligned El Nino, different altogether.
La Nina’s current visit has glimpsed a change of scene,
altogether different, a pattern that’s turned mean.
No more the welcome caller, we’ve now seen Mr Hyde,
are we seeing first hand climate’s turning of the tide?
Two thousand and Eleven, a summer filled with rain,
blow me down, in Twenty Twelve it happened all again,
cyclones, floods and mayhem, people’s lives destroyed,
La Nina’s sense of humour’s likely one we should avoid.
This was all preceded by many years of drought,
almost a generation thought that trend would not bow out.
El Nino the main suspect throughout those long hard years
once again much bitterness, interspersed with tears.
Where to next, we wonder, is La Nina still a friend
or merely a phenomenon we cannot recommend.
Will we be like Hanrahan, our future sown with doubt,
forever stressed, accepting what the weather gods dish out.

I've knowingly used "different altogether" and "altogether different" in stanzas one and two. I'd be interested to hear opinions as to whether this is "constructive" or "lazy" word structure on my part.
