BEWARE THE FOX

BEWARE THE FOX.

He hunts by night, he hunts by day,
he hunts in the most remarkable way
and cares not a jot what others say -
the cunning wily fox.

Through the mountains, across the plain,
in desert's heat or jungle's rain,
he hunts and kills, then hunts again -
the cunning wily fox.

He hunts alone scorning packs
for it's never the brave he ever attacks;
his aim is always his victim's backs -
the cunning wily fox.

He makes scant noise as he swiftly glides
with his careful, strong and agile strides;
many's the life he cruelly decides -
the cunning wily fox.

Throughout this world strangely designed
there are many others of his kind,
so ensure you keep a watch behind -
for the cunning wily fox!

That poem could refer to lots of being as well as the ol’ Fox. I wonder will he have to pay carbon tax?

Well written.

Good idea Vic, something to try out. The scansion is a little bit tricky for me, I had trouble with the rhythm in line 1, stanza 3. Also line 3 in stanza 4 and line 1 in the last stanza, the stress for.many's and strangely has to fall on the first syllable not the last, which makes trochaic substitutions I think in what seems to be iambic metre. I found it bumpy like that. I may be proven wrong..just some thoughts :)

G'day Vic,

I love it. I didn't have to analyse what it was about or look for any deep and meaningful underlying agenda. I got into the rhythm of it and it flowed along. As 'we' have been fox hunters - it brought a clear image of a night with the spotlight. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, when we were very young, we could get as much as $48 for a good pelt. Now you can hardly give the skins away. mmmI might post 'Shooting'. Thanks Vic.

Thank you everyone for the comments. The story is in the last stanza:

Throughout this world strangely designed
there are many others of his kind,
so ensure you keep a watch behind -
for the cunning wily fox!

Spotigionous onigious Marty.

Used to be the same with feral cats. Just could not stop themselves from having a look .
