A Sister Called Kath

We were sent out the bush to collect some firewood,
The one thing being boys, we just never understood.
Why our sister Kath must always go with us,
She just caused us trouble and made such a big fuss.

We started out from town in Dads old Bedford truck,
Then not far in the scrub we had some good luck.
We found a paddock that was freshly plowed,
To pick mallee roots here we were always allowed.

Kath gets around with their nose stuck up in the air,
“I’m not picking those things; I’m a girl it’s not fair.”
Kath flew from the truck and the door she just slams,
No work for her she’s going to play with the lambs.

The boys took to this task and of course got stuck in,
Then racing each other just to see who would win.
It wasn’t too long and the old truck was full,
The lamb-playing sister got real cranky no bull.

So we chased her around to the front of the truck,
Against all us boys she was just out of luck.
Then driving back home after working so hard,
The trick’s now to manoeuvre in through the back yard.

Mum had been busy hanging the wash on the line,
If I can fit past the posts then all will be fine.
The boys watched the fence and down the house side,
“Now Kath; you watch the clothesline, so don’t go and hide.”

With all the kids watching I could do this with ease,
The boys were all shouting, so very eager to please;
“Twang” went the clothesline; it was heard in the streets,
Our truck is now covered with socks, undies and sheets.

The boys in a panic ran behind the workshop,
Smug as could be; Kath looked straight at me;
And said; “Stop”

True story no doubt Dave. Sisters can be horrible creatures.

Just ask me I had to put up with six of them.

Heather true it was on the old site, I have just been reading “The Old Wood Stove in The Kitchen” and that brought this to mind.

Bob I had five sisters, still have as a matter of fact.

Nope. She's a city girl and wouldn't be caught dead in overalls and hay!
