I TOO HAD A DREAM Homework 27/5/20

Post by Terry » Wed Apr 29, 2020 8:01 pm

I TOO HAD A DREAM

Like that preacher years ago, I had a dream as well,
spurred on by Corona as it cast its wicked spell.
I had drifted off to sleep with all that on my mind
and I dreamt about a more compassionate mankind.

Cleansing of the earth became our focus now at last,
horrors from this virus sobered most of us up fast.
Politicians from all parties, seemed to understand,
that the earth was now in peril - evil swept the land.

This reality type check had touched us from the start
and the message that is gave, was follow now your heart.
Change your lifestyle too and step away from waste and greed,
think about your parents and all others now in need.

So the earth it seemed was now a better place to live,
people thought about each other - gave what they could give.
Despots and dictators were replaced with decent folk -
but reality returned - the moment I awoke

If only dreams did come true Terry!!!

The corona virus has revealed, among other things, how our daily actions are woven into those of others in ways that have consequences for us all. It’s revealed an ethical web of which each of us is a part. We can only hope, moving forward, that that revalation stays with us beyond the many months that this crisis will. It’s not just our health at stake but our humanity.

Here’s to a better world post this pandemic!

Hi Sue

Good to see you visit this site once more.

The inspiration for this (as you probably guessed) came from the quote on your Facebook page,
and Maureen's prompts seem to lend themselves for something like this.

As you say let's hope there is some good come out of what the world's been going through at the moment.

Cheers

Terry

Good one Terry - you made good use of the prompts here - well done. This Covid19 has been rather insightful I agree - and I think in the main for the better as well. I have found it quite hopeful for the future to see just how quickly Mother Earth has repaired the damage of decades our thoughtlessness has wrought, and do hope that people will appreciate that when all this is over, and make a conscious choice to not go back to how we were.

I agree...It's been such an eye opener to people everywhere, and I would like to believe there will be far less selfish complacency in the future, far less taking the Earth and the other people in it for granted, and a whole lot more focus on what's really important in the big scheme of things... If politicians from all parties, cultures and religions would realise this too and act accordingly, it would be a major bonus to say the least! I too have this dream Terry, and you've put it across well and made great use of the prompts in the process.

Thanks Maureen

I suppose the worrying signs are still there, with people breaking the rules without any thought that they may be putting others in danger.

Thanks Catherine

I guessed that you would be a kindred soul, when thinking along these lines.

We can but live in hope Catherine.

Good on you Terry. Nicely set out . Thomas More famously wrote about a perfect society which he called Utopia. Utopia is a Greek word meaning " no place "

Well written as always, Terry.

It certainly will be interesting to see what the next year brings in the aftermath of this unprecedented crisis.
