Homework WE 14/10/19 - Art Exhibition

Post by Shelley Hansen » Fri Oct 04, 2019 3:13 pm

And now for something completely different - for a bit of fun, I have changed some word-art friends into visual artists! :D

ART EXHIBITION
© Shelley Hansen 4/10/19

There’s a flying hurry-scurry at the Gallery today,
for a local exhibition will be shortly underway
where a score of budding artists, some experienced, some new,
are all waiting for their paintings to be hung on public view.

There is Neville with his pastels, bringing life to floral art –
tender pink and purple garlands, romance tokens of the heart,
while the vibrant gold of sunflowers shouts brilliance at its best
as they catch the sunset rays, with faces turned toward the west.

Maureen’s portraits are outstanding, as they capture tears and joy –
oil on canvas has revealed a rosy-cheeked and laughing boy,
while a mother’s eyes gaze far away as, seated in her chair,
she embraces faded letters and a curl of golden hair.

There’s a muddy creek that rolls through Terry’s watercolour scene,
set beneath the casting shadow of a red gum – tall, serene.
Then by contrast, he’s depicted devastation of a blaze
where the black scrub, grim and silent, chokes beneath the smoke-filled haze.

It’s been said a picture paints a thousand words. If this is true,
then it could be said that words can paint a thousand pictures too.
So it doesn’t matter if we wield a brush, or hold a pen –
we can paint, with words or pictures, scenes that move the hearts of men.

Oh WOW! That's lovely Shelley, thank you  - I don't recall being feted in poetry or song before and the company is excellent. Certainly a use of the prompts that never crossed my mind at all.

May I share it?

Very good Shelley, very imaginative theme. Pictures at the exhibition. I agree all arts are related, poetry has rhythm, colour, tones, lines, and importantly emotion, as does music, dance, theatre and painting. Good one Shelley, one of your best.

Oh wow, Neville - thank you very much. That is high praise!

Yes, I agree with what you say - all arts are related and should definitely stir the emotions.

Cheers
