G'day all,
My Mum, and maybe yours too, would say, whenever we said "It's not fair!" answer "Neither is a black fella's leg" (she would actually use another 3 letter word but considering the family nature of our site I will resist.)
Also if we had a run of bad luck it was said we must have killed a Chinaman. But what the racial connotations were I don't know. Why that particular nationality was more bad luck than any other I never found out.
There days if you said either of the above in public someone would be sure to brand you racist.

yeah Zondrae a lot of those things have gone. I remember reading one of Jolliffe's Saltbush Bill cartoons, he was driving his bullock team with a load of logs on board, his lead bullock was a black one and the caption read something like...'I don't know why your name isn't Nigger anymore but it isn't.'
