the township of YEA

Now this is true it happened in township of Yea 12 months ago on a quiet Tuesday morning

Yea, though he walked in the street of good will
As he shuffled down the street, in that country town.
Misery, pure misery was written, in his frown
And a policemen watched him closely, thinking he was drunk
For his movement, were like a drunken sort of trot
With his hands stuck in his pockets he grumbled on
Looking with frustration, as he gazed down at his feet
That changed into anguish as he shortened up his stride.
As he mumbled some incoherently words beneath breath
And shuffled to an old grey ute, that’s seen some better days.
And quietly he drove from town fearing that the law would check,
To see if he was sober enough to walk a straight line.
Smiling’ he thought of a short message he heard in his youth.
The young girl she cried, as she fled from the dance hall floor’
Saying loudly. “You can’t trust Coles elastic”
But alas his underpants elastic had suffered the same problem.
