60 - Birthday Bash

Social interactions,
few and far between,
every year a birthday
time and place foreseen.
Double invitation,
BJO and Bill,
perfect chance to say g’day
with a beer and meat to grill.

A killer to be butchered,
meat room hung and hooked
swinging on the mincer
patties, snags to cook.
Butter salt and pepper,
onions sauce and bread,
table set and ready,
all waiting in the shed.

Grog was in a bathtub
deep in ice and cold
mostly whisky, beer, and rum,
cans of coke untold.
Music was acoustic,
the crowd were on their way,
all arriving safely
the band begins to play.

Everyone excited,
has always been too long,
handshakes and greetings,
shirts shorts and thongs.
Grab a drink and mingle,
laugh joke and sing,
barefoot now and dancing,
waltz jig and swing.

The evening flew so quickly
daylight came too fast
some were curled up on the floor,
those awake had CRAFT.
Survival of the fittest,
the party was a blast,
hair of the dog on offer
out play out drink out last.

Bacon and eggs, greasy,
wearing your disguise,
force a smile, feeling crook,
sunnies hide your eyes.
Half a day to sober up,
if looks could kill, your dead,
make it home by midnight
and climb into your bed.

Social interactions,
few and far between,
every year a birthday
time and place foreseen.
Double invitation,
BJO and Bill,
perfect chance to say g’day
with a beer and meat to grill.
