15 - And Just Like That

Teamwork is the answer,
and the sound of little feet,
laugh and cry together,
moving on, to meet and greet.
Love is unconditional,
manners come for free,
home is where the heart is,
and all starts with you and me.

Every year we question,
where did last year go,
life is quickly changing,
overdrive, in overflow
It’s time to take the foot off,
and slip back through the gears,
drop her in to lowdown,
and reflect on yester years.

Fail to plan, plan to fail,
the moto of my life,
the search was on in ernest,
to find myself a wife.
A princess on the platform,
I was taken by her eyes,
in love within a heart beat,
I was taken by surprise

Settled in to married life,
living in the bush,
every day a challenge,
with just a gentle push.
Thrown into the deep end,
solving any situation,
dug in to her duties,
on an isolated station.

Early risers, breakfast,
main meal of the day.
out the door by daylight,
hard work on the way.
Grab a bite at sunset,
rifles racked and ready,
Roos hop in for water,
taking aim, keep it steady.

Head shot, in the headlight,
hoist, gut and load,
quickly moving onward,
further down the road.
Half a ton by midnight,
chiller hooked and hung,
quickly showered, in to bed,
fast asleep by one.

Young, wild and driven,
footloose, fancy free,
a family now presented,
one soon turned to three.
Our honeymoon was over,
life and time adjusted,
days and nights relentless,
date nights quickly busted.

Left the bush for building,
education number one,
netball, cricket, footy,
participation, mobs of fun.
College education,
at a city boarding school,
failure not an option,
learn to lead, follow rules.

Our eldest now a sparkie,
well respected by his peers,
our second, iGo Fencing,
loves his work, loves his beers,
Our baby is a muso,
writes and sings, plays guitar,
Nashville based, USA,
has taken him afar.

Teamwork is the answer,
