13 - Makes Sense

Our lives are lived by senses,
all connected to the brain,
some used more than others,
over and over again.
Most we take for granted,
as we live, work and play,
it’s not until you stop and think,
we use them every day.

To see, is such a privilege,
young eyes, can see so clear,
to hear can be so joyful,
music playing, with a beer.
To smell, can take you on a trip,
you either love or hate,
to touch, can lead to pleasure,
so much better with a mate.

To taste is where we differ,
we dwell on sweet and sour,
proof is in the pudding,
sieve the weevils from the flour.
A sense of direction,
we used the sun and stars,
but now it’s sent via satellite
to all our phones and cars.

Balance comes in many forms,
helps you run and walk,
to appropriate, or legislate,
our pollies talk the talk.
When a kid, a thousand quid,
was just a figure of speech,
now they talk in billions,
make a promise, out of reach.

Pride is in believing,
you’ve done the best you can,
satisfied, achievements,
help your fellow man.
Leave the world a better place,
there’s nothing gained from war,
be generous, be grateful,
to all who came before.
