We spent 20 years living in Quorn, and had many great years with friends staying at home for the Easter long weekend.

27 - Easter’s on the Hill

Easter time, on the hill,
four hours , up the coast,
turn sharp right, at Stirling North,
a Flinders view to boast.
Loaded up with kids and dogs,
and bedding by galore,
food and grog to last a week,
sleeping on the floor.

This is how it happened,
with music, rum and beer,
started as a one off,
came together, ever year.
Party till the wee small hours,
champers, wine and rum,
happy, loud, rejoicing,
and having so much fun.

Kids first up, and out of bed,
out the door to play,
adults rising, one by one,
to start another day.
Tea and toast, for breakfast,
all cleaned up by ten,
a barbecue, lunch at two,
and start all over again.

Easter bunny, eggs galore,
early Sunday morn,
treasure hunt, clues to find,
and end up on the lawn.
Every year a challenge,
on the golf course down the hill,
scores were all recorded,
by Peter, Glen and Phill.

A ride on the Pichi Richi,
steam train, railway track,
smoke and whistles,happy kids,
to woodshed flat and back.
Warren gorge, Middle gorge,
Horse shoe, Dutchmen’s stern,
Richmond valley, Devils peak,
to climb, and then return.

Easter time on the hill,
overlooking Quorn,
so much fun for all the kids,
footy on the lawn.
Monday arvos, packing up,
sad to see them go,
knowing only one more year,
another great Easter show.

Dr Tony lives there now,
enjoys his Flinders view,
Arden Vale, Willochra plains
just to name a few.
We wish him now and always,
happy Easter’s on the hill,
with music fun and laughter,
in memory of Glen and Lil.
