PIT BULLS IN TUTUS …Maureen Clifford © The Scribbly Bark Poet

The Ballerina rose en point stretched out one graceful leg
Her gauzy pink wings fluttered – she had no need to beg.
A Pit Bull calm and quite serene
she held her stance and made her stream
so other dogs would know she’d been
peeing on the fire hydrant.

Her rose pink tutu was divine – enhanced her ebony fur.
The music played, the dancer danced – today was all for her.
Around her people clapped and cheered
and those who didn’t like dogs jeered
but this girl was no more a feared
she’d escaped a life violent.

The little children liked to pat and this girl was OK with that,
her breed was not a savage one geared up for fierce combat.
Oh she could fight if fight she must
and there were folks she did distrust
but tagged as savage – plain unjust …
her voice alas was silent.

So here today, her task was to dispel the fears folks held
to let them see she was a breed in which a kind heart dwelled.
She did her dance and little tricks
and out there with the audience mixed -
her ballet moves had them transfixed.
She danced around the hydrant.

The hyperbole re savage breeds was quite dispelled by her cute deeds.

A curious scene Maureen. I don't quite get it.

A PR exercise for pitties Neville - the dogs are dressed up in costume and put on a little show so that people can see they are just dogs, not scary dogs or mean dogs but just beautiful friendly loving pooches - who love getting pats and cuddles
