When you meet her on the street, she seems so happy and bright.
What you don't see are the tears, that she cries alone at night.
Pretty dress and pretty hair, gets her nails done every week,
but see how much she drinks, and the attention that she seeks -
because she's crying, crying on the inside.

Every day's a social whirl, she's always busy on the go.
All her tears are held inside, somewhere hidden, not for show.
A dreaded demon lurks within, his touch she can't escape.
All is not quite as it seems, but she cannot make the break -
and she is crying, crying on the inside.

All around her life goes on, rush and bustle everywhere.
But she's barely holding on, and is sunk in deep despair.
She's a mother, daughter, lover..and yet she hides from those
who love her, the demons. Self preservation I suppose,
because she can't stop the crying on the inside.

In herself she feels she's failed, thinks she has nothing to give.
She can't see their faces pale, as they wonder will she live.
Outwardly she always seemed to be so happy and bright.
Now she lies beneath a sheet in a room devoid of light.
But she's no longer crying on the inside.

Will she ever find her way, following the path back home?
She is searching hard for peace, and for her sins will atone.
It will take all of her courage to walk alone the path
to that gathering of Angels. The glorious aftermath -
and there'll be no more crying on the inside.
