HORSE WIZARD

Post by Duncan Williams » Mon Aug 13, 2018 12:03 pm

HORSE WIZARD

Then just a wizard in the making,
In the art of kind horse breaking,
A man that held his legs an stirrups firm
He was one to never chatter,
In that job it would't matter,
A trainer who had taught his kin to learn.
Stride his pony mount for pleasure,
For the long enduring leisure,
Til a sense had settled in his breeding hack.
He was known to not many,
Proved his horsemanship to any,
Just a natural star upon the equine track.
In the years that he grew older,
Was more wiser and more bolder,
He lived that life an rode his journey through.
Near a swinging stockyard gate,
Was a generous honest mate,
An able trainer with an able task to do.
Spoke of saddles you'd remember,
From the poly to the fender,
And the way you must be patient to a horse.
Then his days out at the races,
Working teams in different places,
Watched the way they handled round a course.
We seen him lead in his position,
Regarding rules on competition,
The encouragement to fill his long life dream.
Quite achievements that were done,
An valued prizes that he'd won,
Horse master wizard, round the equine scene.

Hi Duncan

I haven't had any experiences with horses - but you certainly set the scene with this poem.

My granddad was a skilled horseman - and like your character, "never one to chatter". They were a breed apart, hey?

Cheers
