FOOTPRINTS

FOOTPRINTS ... Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBark Poet

I am trying to leave footprints, but only in the sand.
Reducing my emissions to help to save our land.
Walking when I'm able, catching bus and train,
reduce the use of fossil fuel for there is much to gain.

Using solar heating, solar lighting too.
Water from the water tanks is used for shower and loo.
Growing my own veggies, raising my own chooks.
Little things we all can do, gleaned from self help books.

CHORUS - It's good to be a greenie and good to love the land.
Reducing carbon footprints from our Earth.
Walk on the Earth but only leave your footprints in the sand,
for all must do their best to make it work.

Nothing is left on standby and turn off unused lights.
Use the solar lighting to illuminate the night.
Buy yourself some green bags and give plastic ones the flick,
for plastic burnt in rubbish dumps is sure to make you sick.

Re use and recycle...look outside the square.
Don't throw out old newspapers just mulch them everywhere.
Use your old egg cartons for growing tiny seeds,
then when they've grown a little bit just plant them out with ease.

Chorus

If we all do the little things there's no real lifestyle change
and it only takes a moment and no doubt you'll be amazed.
At how easy it really is. It's all been done before.
Mend, recycle and re use will help our Earth for sure.

Your own Grandparents did it, many long years ago
living through the depression and World Wars as you know.
So have a go, remember leave footprints only in sand.
Let Mother Earth recuperate, and show you love your land.

***sadly I no longer have chooks or solar power

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.
