ODE TO A DOG

ODE TO A DOG

My Elly has a zebra, it’s stuffed and soft and stripey
she gets it and she shakes it fit to kill, then God almighty
throws and tosses it around the room, attacks, pounces and fleas him,
tucks him then into her basket, placed secure beneath her chin.

Jack Russell’s are good ratters and she’s crossed with a Staffy too.
Thinks she’s six foot high and bullet proof – a terrier through and through.
She’s a rough and tough and tumble type – typical of the breed
but she’s also cute and pretty and a much loved dog indeed.

She’s won the hearts of family and won the heart of friends
and obviously she owns mine and will unto the end.
She’s the best small companion for she’s fearless, game and smart
Everybodys friend is Elly - my small girl with a huge heart.

My old dog was a labrador/kelpie, she fiercely despised staffys and jack russells.

Nice poem Maureen, cute doggie photo :) although the thing in her mouth doesn't look like a zebra ??

Well spotted Neville - that is her squeeky hamburger, another bedside companion. She has lots of toys and the one she hates the most is her stuffed Kangaroo...she ignores roo...throws it out of her bed and will not retrieve it. Don't know what she against him.

Some dogs just take an instant dislike to each other - don't know why that is...I must have been blessed as mine have all got on together within their own family groups anyway.
