Do any of you other women out there have trouble telling your hubbies how much you care for them????
I thought I would pen a few words for my old man

I love your special eyes of blue;
I love your cute behind.
I love your muscles, taut and true;
no better man I’d find.

I love your gentle empathy
that knows when I am sad;
the way you take good care of me –
and never make me mad.

I love the way you help at home –
you cannot do enough,
and I know you would never roam,
tho’ you can act so tough.

Please know how much I love you, dear;
I really think you’re cool.
My special man, I’ll make it clear –
you are my …. April Fool!!!

The WA Bush Poets have a small comp going for their next muster - April Fool, or something similar. 16 lines max, no more than 13 syllables per line - gave me something to do on the drive down to Perth!!! :lol:

That's horrible, Irene!

Btw, I've never heard of comps stipulating a maximum number of syllables per line. Interesting idea.

Awwww, come on Stephen - don't you think that is true of most men????? ;) :lol:

the comp is just an informal one they have this time each year for a a bit of fun at their monthly muster. They just like the poems short as they run on a strict time frame - have to be out of the venue strictly on time!!!

G'day Irene,

I was wondering where you had found such a paragon of virtue. (hereby keeping my new years resolution of using less common words) My old man is a diamond in the rough. I've been trying to knock the edges off him for 43 years... maybe one day. you never know. Hasn't washed a dish in a year and a half. But when I need him he is as solid as a rock and there is nothing in the world that he can't either do or have done.
He made me a frog pond yesterday.
I'll post my poem 'Renovations'.

It happens right from the start women find a good bloke.

First they walk into the church

Then put some money in the donation box

And once married they sing a few songs

From then on it's the same old story

I'll Change Hymn

cheers Bob

Did you have your arms around him and looked him in the eye when you told him Irene.

Or were your fingers crossed behind your back. ;)
