Rain, rain and more rain

This was how I fancied the end of years of drought might be. Hmmm...if only.
Sweet, Sweet Rain © Will Moody 2010
Drip...drip...dripping
from the tips of laden leaves.
Drip...drip...dripping
from the ends of sodden sleeves.
Drip...drip...dripping
from the fuzz of new-born lambs.
Drip...drip...dripping
from the grey skies into dams.
Drip...drip...dripping
on the dry and dusty sand.
Sweet, sweet rain is
bringing new life to the land.
Drum...drum...drumming
out a steady rhythmic beat.
Splash...splash...splashing
under laughing children's feet.
Drip...drip...rippling
in the gullies, creeks and streams.
Plop...plop...topping
up the tanks and troughs and dreams.
But for every rainy season,
long dry drought will bring it's pain,
while we wait and pray
and long to see the sweet, sweet rain.
Well, we've got our floaties, flippers and snorkels and tomorrow we head off into the sodden west. If we don't get marooned somewhere between here and Hay, I'll (water)log back on in a couple of weeks. Wish us luck. (Maybe I should get an eperb?)
Cheers, Will.
