The Bronze Swagman committee is excited to announce that the Judges results for 2022 have been received.
A total of 38 poets entered this year's competition with a combined total of 121 poems. This included 8 new poets submitting a total of 16 poems.
We received submissions from all over Australia and from overseas (America and France). Our Judges have completed their mammoth task of reading your entries and collaborating to choose a Winner, Runner up and 3 x Highly Commended along with the recipient of the Tim Borthwick Memorial Award - for best new entrant to the competition.
Now the news you have all been waiting for ...
WINNER - Shelley Hansen - "The Spirit of the Outback"
RUNNER-UP - Catherine Lee - "The Halfway Pub"
HIGHLY COMMENDED -
Catherine Lee - "Return of a Stranger"
Peter O'Shaughnessy - "Dawn on the Collie"
Shelley Hansen - "Loch Ard"
TIM BORTHWICK AWARD - Fred Duncan - "Going to School to Vote"
A special thanks to our judges Noel Stallard and Janine Haig and to our sponsors Elite Aviation, Red Dirt Tours, Shoprite Winton, Curley Cattle Transport, Wookatook@Pentland without whom we would not have been able to increase our prize monies and to the Borthwick family for their contribution continuing to support new talent.
Congratulations to everyone and we look forward to an even bigger competition in 2023.
