Horse sculpture for Kym

Post by Neville Briggs » Wed Jan 01, 2014 6:50 pm

This is for you Kym. The sculpture was done by Christine Downs. She is a member of the Singleton Writers group, she writes stories and sometimes poems mostly about horses. Sometimes about goats  Christine's husband Noel Downs is a bit of a country guitar singer and does a few bush poems.
The location of the sculpture is at the tea/ art/ tourist shop in the little village of Sandy Hollow. About 75 km west of Singleton on the so-called Golden Highway ( a fancy name for the road to Dubbo  )

A closer view of the same thing.

This is the back of the horse sculpture, Christine is into Celtic stuff.

I think it really is stunning - I would love to hear the story (if there is one ) behind it if Christine is interested in sharing it. The Celtic symbols with the Aboriginal seems a bit of a conflict - no not conflict - as I dare sy there are a great many similarities in the Dreamtime and the Celtic tales - can't think of the word I am looking for - unexpected perhaps....so I am thinking there is a story behind it. Of course I've been wrong before though.
