Vale Lynden Baxter

Post by Shelley Hansen » Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:04 pm

Sad news to report tonight - Queensland ABPA bush poet Lynden Baxter passed away in Bundaberg today. Lynden was the Queensland Performance Champion Male Bush Poet for 2015 and is in fact still the holder of that title. He and his faithful dog Dusty regularly travelled to poetry events and were well known to many. He will be sadly missed, and our sympathy is with his family.

Here is the full report as published on the North Pine Bush Poets' website ... http://www.northpinebushpoets.com/lynden-baxter/

It is with sadness we advise that Lynden Baxter passed away at lunchtime today, Friday 23rd June 2017, at Bundaberg Base Hospital. Lynden had been battling illness for a time.

Long John Best has been in contact with the family and although there are no funeral arrangements yet, Lynden has expressed a wish to be buried in Monto. The funeral is expected to take place in Monto next week. North Pine Bush Poets will publish the arrangements as soon as they are known.

Vale.

Thanks for circulating this sad news Shelley.
Lynden was a really nice bloke and we will miss his presence at so many bush poet events.
Greg has put a small tribute to him on the homepage.

He will be sadly missed. A gentleman with a wonderful way with words and way of delivering those words.
