Bundy Bush Poetry Muster - Cancelled for 2017

Post by Shelley Hansen » Tue Nov 15, 2016 5:08 pm

For those who may not have seen it on the ABPA Facebook page ...

Sad news has been received that there will be no Bundy Bush Poetry Muster in 2017. Whether the muster again starts up in 2018 will be decided late next year.

The annual Bundy Bush Poetry Muster has been a part of the Bush Poetry scene since 1994. The reason for the competition not going ahead in 2017 is that Sandy Lees is unable to continue as co-ordinator and there is no one available to take over that very demanding role.

Bundy Bush Poets President Edna Harvey has made the following comment: "As president of the Bundaberg Poets' Society Inc please let me just say that this decision was not taken lightly. It has been a gut-wrenching decision by Sandy and the rest of the committee. We know that many people have the Bundy Muster marked off in their diaries. Hopefully there will be a return to the Bundy Muster at some future time."

Sincere thanks from all bush poets goes to Sandy, who, ably supported by her husband John, has done such a wonderful job throughout the years. Thanks also to all members of the Bundaberg Poets Society whose hard work behind the scenes always ensured an efficient and enjoyable weekend which drew poets from all over Australia.

I'm sure we all wish Sandy and John the very best and hope that they will cherish the happy memories and friendships they have made over so many years. Their achievements in perpetuating the craft of Aussie bush poetry are to be commended.
