Hi All

As some of you are prose writers as well as poets, I thought you might be interested in details for the lucrative Horne Prize for essays - an Australian competition.

Here's an extract from the website, where you can also find more information and entry details ... http://www.thehorneprize.com.au/about

Cultural partners since 2014, Aesop and The Saturday Paper are pleased to present a major new essay award, The Horne Prize, valued at $15,000. It will be awarded in late December for an essay of up to 3000 words, addressing some part of the theme ‘Australian life’. Entries are open until October 31.

The prize is named for the late Professor Donald Horne, in honour of his exceptional contribution to Australian letters. A shortlist will be announced on November 30; the winner will be announced and the winning essay published in The Saturday Paper on December 24.
All Australian writers are invited to enter The Horne Prize. Taking cues from Donald Horne’s rigorous exploration of Australian culture, essays should based on reportage, and bring light to a person or issue that helps us to understand who we are.
